Privacy policy

Short version: there is no account and no server. Your tasks are stored in your own browser and are never sent to us.

By The Eisenhower Matrix To Do App team · Updated

What we collect

We do not collect your name, email or tasks. There are no accounts, no sign-up forms and no newsletters. Besides the basic request data any website receives, the only data collected is anonymous page-view statistics, and Google Analytics only if you accept it. Both are described under Analytics and Hosting below.

Where your tasks are stored

Everything you type into the matrix is saved in your browser’s local storage, on your device. It is not uploaded anywhere. We could not read your tasks even if we wanted to, because we never receive them.

This also means your tasks do not sync between devices or browsers. A matrix on your laptop is separate from one on your phone.

Cookies and local storage

We set no cookies of our own. Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_*, but only after you click Accept in the cookie banner. They last up to two years, and declining deletes them.

The site uses your browser’s local storage for three things:

  • Your tasks and app settings, so they are still there next time.
  • Your light or dark theme choice.
  • Your cookie choice, so we do not ask again on every page.

This data stays on your device and is never read by us.

Keep a backup

Browsers can clear site data, for example when you clear your history, use a private window, or, in Safari, after about seven days without visiting the site. To be safe, use More → Download backup now and then. You can restore it any time with More → Restore from backup.

Delete everything

Use More → Delete all my data in the app. This removes every task, your settings and your theme choice from this browser. Clearing this site’s data in your browser settings does the same.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It does not use cookies, does not track you across sites, and does not see your tasks.

If you click Accept in the cookie banner, we also use Google Analytics to learn which pages people visit, how they found the site and which device and browser they use. Google collects this with the cookies above and a random ID, not your name or email, and Google Analytics does not store IP addresses. It never sees your tasks. Google processes this data for us under its privacy policy (opens in a new tab); see also how Google uses data from sites that use its services (opens in a new tab).

If you click Decline, or make no choice, Google Analytics never loads. You can change your mind any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.

No ads, no accounts

There are no ads, no advertising trackers, and nothing to sign up for. The app is free. If you would like to support it, there is an optional tip jar (opens in a new tab). Tips are handled by that platform under its own privacy policy, and we never see your payment details.

Hosting

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes basic request data (such as IP addresses) to deliver pages and protect against abuse.

If you email us

If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply, and we do not add you to any mailing list. Ask us any time and we will delete the conversation.

Children

The app is safe for people of any age because it collects no personal information. We do not knowingly receive data from children, and children should not accept analytics cookies.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data about you. Apart from emails you send us, the only such data is the pseudonymous Google Analytics data collected if you accept cookies. You can stop it any time with Cookie settings, delete your tasks in the app, or email us about either.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top. We will never start uploading your tasks without making that clear first.
